Precor has installed IFI approved equipment at the John Pounds Centre to make it more accessible
The John Pounds Centre in Portsmouth has refurbished its gym to make it more accessible for gym users with disabilities.
The gym was outfitted with Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) approved Precor equipment, including: Experience Series Adaptive Motion Trainers, two newly launched elliptical cross trainers with converging cross ramp and a Spinner Shift bike.
The centre has also installed Precor’s Five Vitality series single and dual-use strength stations.
Matt Mason, centre director of the John Pound Centre, says: “Providing an inclusive gym is really important to us. When looking at new equipment that met the IFI requirements we kept coming back to Precor and the support the team provides.”
Justin Smith, head of UK at Precor, says: “The John Pounds Centre is a great example of a community gym providing facilities for everyone to exercise, no matter what ability or physical limitations they may have.”
Other equipment includes IFI treadmills, upright and recumbent bikes, a step machine and an IFI Vitality Series selectorised leg curl and leg extension units and IFI Icarian functional glide.
It has also increased its number of free weights and redesigned the space to ensure clear wheelchair access.
